For Authors
Author Guidelines
Registration and English-language submissions are open. JKD is multidisciplinary and publishes one issue per month. Submission and peer review are free. Articles published in the journal’s first three issues automatically receive a full APC waiver. From the fourth issue, the standard APC is USD 850 per accepted article, subject to discounts, full waivers and previous no-fee commitments. Placement in a free issue is not guaranteed. Authors from developing countries or facing financial hardship may request a partial or full waiver. Articles submitted before this update retain the previous no-fee terms. See the fees and waiver policy.
1. Select an article type
Choose Research Articles, Review Articles, Short Communications and Perspectives, or Book Reviews and Correspondence. Research Articles include theoretical, methodological, case, policy, replication, negative-result, and data/resource studies. Use a structure appropriate to the discipline.
2. Prepare an anonymous manuscript
Use clear English and editable DOC/DOCX where possible. Research abstracts should contain 200–300 words with 4–6 keywords. Provide title, abstract, main text, references, tables and figure captions. Book reviews and correspondence may omit an abstract. Remove author names, identifying acknowledgements, tracked-change identities, and identifying file metadata from the review manuscript.
3. Prepare separate files
Supply a separate Title Page and Declarations with all author names, affiliations, corresponding-author email, contributions, funding, competing interests, ethics/consent, data availability, and AI-use statements. Add a concise cover letter. For LaTeX, supply a compiled PDF for review and editable sources when requested. Label supplementary materials clearly.
4. Check integrity and permissions
All authors must approve submission. Do not submit simultaneously to another journal. Disclose preprints and related work. Verify citations and obtain third-party permissions and required ethics approval/consent. Disclose substantive generative AI assistance: tool/version, purpose, and affected parts. AI cannot be an author; human authors must verify all outputs.
AI-writing screening threshold: no higher than 20%. The journal has not yet selected a detection tool. Application of this numerical threshold will begin only after the tool and assessment procedure have been published and communicated to authors. Until then, no manuscript will be automatically rejected on an unspecified AI score. Detection scores are screening indicators, not a measurement of actual AI authorship or plagiarism; editorial assessment and an opportunity for authors to respond remain necessary.
5. Submit online
Register or log in, start a new submission, choose the section, upload each component, enter every author and complete English title, abstract, keywords, and declarations. Check the final summary and click Submit. Saving a draft does not complete submission. The interface may be switched between English and Chinese; manuscript text and files are not translated by that switch.
6. Review, revision, and proofs
Scholarly articles normally receive double-anonymous external review; book reviews and correspondence may receive editorial assessment. Submit revisions in the existing record with a point-by-point response. After acceptance, provide final sources and approve proofs. No particular acceptance or publication date is guaranteed.
